We are proud to announce the preview release of the Open Source Software (OSS) Management Packs for System Center 2016 Technical Preview 2. These management packs bring rich performance and health monitoring to favorite open source applications running on Linux - Apache HTTP Server and MySQL Server. The OSS management packs join Microsoft’s current management pack offerings for UNIX/Linux operating systems and Java Application Servers. Paired with the Linux management packs, System Center Operations Manager is now the IT Admin’s one pane of glass for full LAMP stack monitoring!

The OSS Management Packs for System Center 2016 Technical Preview 2 require the latest Technical Preview 2 management packs for Linux. The Linux Technical Preview 2 management packs can be found on the System Center 2016 Technical Preview 2 Operations Manager media. The OSS Management Packs are not supported on UNIX operating systems (IBM AIX, Oracle Solaris, and HP HP-UX).
Apache HTTP Server
Apache HTTP Server monitoring is enabled through importing the following management packs: Microsoft.ApacheHTTPServer.Library.mp, Microsoft.Oss.Library.mp. The Apache HTTP Server management pack supports Apache HTTP Server versions 2.2 and 2.4. Additionally, the Apache HTTP Server management pack gives you detailed metrics for the following:
- Percent of Busy and Idle Workers
- Consumption of memory and CPU
- Statistics pertaining to Virtual hosts such as requests and errors per minute
- Alerting on SSL certificate expiration
MySQL Server Management Pack
MySQL Server monitoring is enabled through importing the following management packs: Microsoft.MySQLServer.Library.mp, Microsoft.Oss.Library.mp. The MySQL Server management pack supports MySQL versions 5.0, 5.1, 5.5, 5.6, and 5.7 along with MariaDB Server versions 5.5 and 10.0. The MySQL Server management pack features the following:
- Performance statistics for Key Cache, Query Cache, Table Cache
- Performance data on connection usage and failed connections
- InnoDB Buffer Pool hit and usage statistics
- Disk Space usage for individual databases
